Detroit Tigers' Anibal Sanchez joins Miguel Cabrera on Venezuelan team for World Baseball Classic

A pair of Detroit Tigers pitchers will participate in the World Baseball Classic.

Starter Anibal Sanchez will join Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera on the Venezuelan team. Relief pitcher Octavio Dotel will pitch for the Dominican Republic.

There are no Tigers players on the U.S. roster, which was released earlier in the day Thursday.

A handful of Tigers minor-league players are on WBC rosters. Infielder Cale Iorg, who played for Triple-A Toledo last season, is on the Canadian roster, as is Shawn Hill, who signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers in November.

Warwick Saupold, who pitched for Single-A Lakeland in 2012, will pitch for Australia.

The WBC will be held in March during spring training.
