A Boston man who was wanted in the theft of money from a downtown church?s donation box surrendered to police Tuesday after evading arrest for more than two weeks. Richard Shiner, 47, walked into the District A1 station downtown and reportedly admitted he had stolen money from St. Leonard?s Church on Bennett Street, police said. Boston Municipal Court had issued a warrant for Shiner?s arrest Dec. 27, after a witness from the church called police to report he had confronted Shiner while he was digging bills out of a donation box?s slot with a wooden stick, the statement said.
