The Simpsons: Tapped Out – Homer fans rejoice as Springfield comes to Android at last [Freeware]

D?oh! Any fans of the Simpsons out there will know that life is not complete without a plentiful supply of donuts, and in the same way a gaming platform is not complete without a bevy of Springfield?s finest to help us while away the hours. [Editor's Note: is it 'while' or 'wile'?]

Well the good folk at Planet Groenig have delivered the goods with The Simpsons: Tapped Out free (at the moment!) game for Android, and it?s great. This is no mere platform, shoot ?em up, fast moving arcade fluff, it?s the real McCoy, a proper game you can sink your teeth into. Rather like a donut. Ahem.

The game is sort of a cross between The SIMS and a general role playing adventure. You get to rebuild Springfield after a Homer instigated nuclear disaster, bring back the characters as you level up, and send everyone on various madcap challenges and quests.

The graphics are beautiful, and while the audio is limited to snippets with most of the interaction coming from written prompts, the humor of the whole thing makes it all worthwhile. I haven?t had a good chuckle occur so quickly in a game for a long time. Right now it?s free to download and play, but that may change quickly, so grab it while you can.
